Why I'm moving my code to sourcehut

By Ariel Costas - August 23, 2021

I’ve moved all my git repositories to SourceHut’s offical instance sr.ht. I’m looking forward to maintaining projects for others to use, and I don’t want to deal with maintaining all my repos on my own.

SourceHut provides for $2 a month Git/Hg hosting, mailing lists, CI, kanban-like dashboards and wiki. Hosting my own git was fun, but I prefer focusing on programming instead of maintaining all my infrastructure manually.

I know I’m losing a bit of digital sovereignty, but SourceHut is Free Software, really cheap and suits all my needs. The alternative was hosting my own Cgit on my server and having to deal with a mailing list software (or use some proprietary service like Google Groups).
